A 2021 Christmas Message

As 2021 draws to a close, let us remember that the Christmas story is about ordinary people who have endured and remained steadfast and resilient amid the unprecedented challenges of this year.

We at RestartME Foundation are inspired by the strength and character of our community. We received an outpour of support from our partners throughout this year, an affirmation of the trust they have given us to implement Project Revive. This collective support enabled us to extend Php45 million in financing to 3,354 microentrepreneurs in Bulacan, Cebu, and Iloilo.

We are also beginning to see signs of recovery as a result of the country’s persistent efforts to battle the Covid-19 pandemic. And yet, our work remains unfinished as we face on interlocking issues alongside Covid-19 such as the climate crisis. The recent Typhoon Odette which ravaged parts of the Visayas and Mindanao has again brought destruction to many lives, property, and livelihoods. Our thoughts and prayers are with those who were affected by the calamity.

The unprecedented challenges of our times cannot anymore be solved by our old ways of working. We need solutions that actually work, and we need to work together rather than in silos.  More than ever, these times call for greater empathy, integrity, and competence. The upcoming 2022 elections is an opportunity for us to regain these values as pillars in our governance. I invite you to reflect and use your vote to change the status quo – vote for change.

In another year that has brought so many challenges, we at RestartME Foundation have also seen utmost generosity, remarkable commitment, and an unparalleled sense of community. Once again, thank you to our partners for being part of journey in 2021, and we look forward to our continued and deepening partnership for next year and beyond.

May you take the holidays as a time to recharge yourself and reconnect to your purpose. I wish that you find ways to share this time with your loved ones and that your home is infused with joy and peace.

My well wishes and Merry Christmas!
